Im looking for a center block for my home page. I looking for a way to get 4(maybe more) flyers into a block with out make a very long page. Im thinking I would like to do 4 large thumbnails (est 250pix wide) in two colums that link to the full size fliers. I have an ideal on how I do in html but was hopping some one might know of a quicker and easier way for the flyers will be changing often. Im thinking of a block that would draw from a folder that would have the full size fliers.
thanks

Know your pretty busy, but want to throw that out.

The easiest way to do this would be to create an html block from adminstration>blocks. Just paste the code in there and hit create. It's quick and simple and easy to edit than messing with creating a real block.

250x4=1000px. That's way too much. If you want 4 flyers I would do 100px each horizontally or 250px each in 2 columns and 2 rows.

These code snippets are for horizontal center up/down blocks not side blocks.

For 4 horizontal images of 100px each:
PHP:
<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="400px"><tr>
<
td width="100px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer1URL" border="0" alt="Flyer1" /></a></td>
<
td width="100px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer2URL" border="0" alt="Flyer2" /></a></td>
<
td width="100px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer3URL" border="0" alt="Flyer3" /></a></td>
<
td width="100px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer4URL" border="0" alt="Flyer4" /></a></td>
</
tr></table>

For 4 images 2 columns and 2 rows of 250px each:
PHP:
<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="500px"><tr>
<
td width="250px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer1URL" border="0" alt="Flyer1" /></a></td>
<
td width="250px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer2URL" border="0" alt="Flyer2" /></a></td>
</
tr><tr>
<
td width="250px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer3URL" border="0" alt="Flyer3" /></a></td>
<
td width="250px"><a href="url"><img src="Flyer4URL" border="0" alt="Flyer4" /></a></td>
</
tr></table>

The border and the alt must be specified with the img tag to make it xhtml compliant. This is xhtml compliant code.

Ahh picking a random image. It's possible but to do 4 images within the same script is beyond me. I guess you could line up a different script for each of the 4. Just trying to explain how to do it would take a while.

Look in the Dragonfly Tricking forum for Rotating header image. I'd copy that 4 times and change the variables inside each script.

Honestly all of that is way too much work than what it's worth. I recommend using the static images and keep it simple.

Here is the code i am working with now. reduces the photo down to a thumb nail size in the block and links to the fullsize in a new window. my sizes will vary with the size of the flyer and the page. I did it in a 3 colum and left a break for a second row if need. Hope this may help some one else out too. thanks for the direction pointing devon.
JB

PHP:

<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="3" width="450"><tr>
<
td><a href="IMAGE1 LOCATION" target="_blank"><img src="IMAGE1 LOCATION" width="150"></a></td>
<
td><a href="IMAGE2 LOCATION" target="_blank"><img src="IMAGE2 LOCATION" width="150"></a></td>
<
td><a href="IMAGE3 LOCATION" target="_blank"><img src="IMAGE3 LOCATION" width="250"></a></td>
</
tr><tr>
<
br>
</
tr></table>

This block is up on my front page cnt for now. to see it click here

By default DragonflyCMS news module can't do that. You'll need to look for another module. It doesn't have anything to do with the theme you're running. It's the news module itself. There are other news modules out there that can do something like you are asking. What they are called I don't know because I don't use them. I believe pitcher and myndworx created something like that.
